Newport Beach is a mid-sized oceanfront city in Orange County, California. It has approximately nineteen neighborhoods and is the 85th largest community in the state. It is a nautical community known for its beautiful ocean views, sparkling beaches, historic Newport Harbor and a wonderful semi-arid climate that encourages a healthy outdoor lifestyle. It is a wealthy community in comparison to both state and national economic standards. Newport Harbor is the largest recreational harbor in the state and is popular for rowing, sailing, kayaking, fishing and paddle-boating. The city spans 52.978 square miles, 23.80 square miles of land and 29.17 square miles of water. It is a predominantly a white-collar community, where over 94% of the workforce have white-collar positions/professions. Over 64% of adults in the city have four-year degrees or higher, which is more than three times the national average. The city is somewhat diverse racially and ethnically. Racially Caucasian and Asian are the most common, ethnically German, Irish and English are the most common. English is the primary language in the city, followed by Spanish. Commuting is common and though public transportation is available, it is more popular to use private vehicles for daily commuting purposes. According to the 2008 U.S. census, the median household income was estimated at $95,511. In the same year the median family income was estimated at $126,916 and the per capita income at $63,015. By 2010, the population was 85,186 and the population density was 3,587.5 people per square mile. The population continued to grow and in 2015 it was estimated at 87,127. In the same year, the estimated median household income was $123,351 and the estimated per capita income was $81,347. Further, the estimated median house or condo value was over $1,000,000, the mean price on all housing units was over $1,000,000 and the median gross rent was $2,148.

There are three school districts that serve the city of Newport Beach, Laguna Beach Unified School District, Newport-Mesa Unified School District and Santa Ana Unified School District. There are approximately eight schools in Newport Beach, including Corona Del Mar High, East Bluff Elementary, Horace Ensign Intermediate, Mariners Elementary and others. Attractions in the city include, the Orange County Museum of Art, Corona del Mar Beach, Crystal Cove State Park, the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum and so much more.
